Horizon Records
Music and design are two of my biggest passions. Every time I go to Horizon, I walk out with a couple new (or used) vinyl records—slowly adding to my small but respectable collection. It's hard not to spend half my money and Saturday each visit. But it's not just the end product that gets me. It's the store. The ambience. The customer service. That favorite new (or old) album playing overhead. And of course, the concert that's playing two steps away at The Bohemian.
Creating this branding was a passion project of mine—combining two things I love—to stretch me and help me grow in my craft. But it was essential to me that it should feel like a natural progression of the brand—maintaining its existing tone—rather than completely dictate what an established record store should look like.
Gene, I hope you enjoy this tribute to your store as much as I enjoyed creating it—and I hope my ideas do it justice!
PAY HOMAGE TO THE OLD WITH THE NEW
The current logo as well as past versions of it helped to inspire the work you will see below.
PRIMARY LOGO | THE ONE WITH THE SUN
The primary logo combines some ideas from past versions of the logo into a simple logotype that is coupled with the vinyl sun graphic. The extended Z is a nod to the original logo as well as the treble staff in the current logo.
